Significant awards

At the 20th International Conference on Internal Friction and Mechanical Spectroscopy (ICIFMS-20), held in Lausanne from July 7–10, 2025, two Zener Medals were awarded: one to Francesco Cordero of CNR-ISM, head of the AnelSpec laboratory, and one to André Riviere.

The scientific journal PLOS Biology periodically publishes a database of the top 2% of the world's most influential scientists, using a standardized metric based on citations and covering all scientific disciplines. The latest update was recently released, and it features several researchers from CNR-ISM in this prestigious list, starting with the current Director, Aldo Di Carlo, and also including the Emeritus Researcher and former Director of CNR-ISM, Dino Fiorani.

Our article “Enhancing Hole Transfer in Perovskite Solar Cell with Self Assembled Monolayer by Introducing [1]benzothieno [3,2-b] [1] benzothiophene Interlayer” is a Top Viewed Article on Solar RRL by Wiley. This achievement highlights both the team's dedicated work and the scientific community’s growing interest in innovative interfacial engineering strategies for advancing perovskite solar cell technologies.

Wiley, the publisher, has informed us that our work “Surface Defect Engineering in Colored TiO₂ Hollow Spheres Toward Efficient Photocatalysis” ranked among the top 10% of the most viewed articles published by the journal in 2023. This important recognition rewards the value of our research and confirms the interest it has generated within the scientific community.

During the 7th International Conference on Materials based on Ionic Liquids (ILMAT), held in Porto, Portugal (21-24/11/2023), Alessandro Triolo, researcher at CNR-ISM, was awarded the Ruth Lynden-Bell Award by the European Society for Ionic Materials (ESIM).
This prestigious award is a recognition of his distinguished scientific career in the field of ionic liquids, solvents utilized in sustainable development.
