
Pump-probe experiments can be performed with a single-wavelength probe. In this case, samples can be excited with radiation at 1030, 800, 400 or 266 nm and probed with a single wavelength generated by an OPA. The pump light is modulated with a chopper and the pump-probe signal is extracted using a lock-in amplifier. This method is complementary to the measurement of transient absorption and reflectivity with white light, as it allows access to probe wavelengths in the NIR/MIR (1600 – 20000 nm) not available in the other experiments.

Solid samples can be studied in transmission even at 77K.
